My Process

When I get a new project, the first thing I do is save it to my iPad and read through it. I use my Apple Pencil, which is amazing, to make notes to myself. These notes may be questions I have as I read that are answered later in the work, things I want to look up to make sure they are correct, and any changes I may want to suggest to the writer. I also include notes of any comments I want to include on the version I return to the author.
After that, I begin looking up the things I want to double check. Sometimes this leads to more questions and sometimes I learn something new.
When it is time to start making the changes, I open a new version of the work and with my iPad sitting beside my laptop, I start the process of inserting comments and suggested changes. During this process, the project gets read again and again as I work. It gives me a chance to check myself and also a chance to catch anything that I didn't see the first time.
As I work I do send the author updates on where I am and I ask any questions regarding the manuscript. Communication is so very important to me and I feel that keeping an open line of communication helps both of us.
I absolutely love what I do. I get to read, I get to help people, and I get to learn. What a fantastic job this is!
